Full job description

Responsibilities

Prepares blood products that meet the safety, purity and potency requirements of FDA and AABB.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares and labels products according to Standard Operating Procedures, including but not limited to red blood cell products, platelets, and plasma (including Cryoprecipitates AHF) products.

  • Performs visual inspection of blood products at each step of processing.

  • Maintains accurate and complete records.

  • Performs required equipment maintenance, trouble shooting and quality control on assigned instrumentation.

  • Identifies and reports problems that may adversely affect products, and performs corrections, if applicable,

  • Quarantines products or supplies when required.

  • Unpacks, receives, and inspects shipments containing blood products and/or donor samples.

  • Prepares shipments of donor samples, source plasma, and recovered plasma as required.

  • Responds to environmental and storage alarms. Performs corrective action when necessary.

  • Performs data entry into BECS and usage of applicable software.

  • Generate various reports as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Education:

  • High school education or equivalent.

Experience:

  • None required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge ofAABB, FDA, OSHA, and regulations

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suites

  • Working knowledge of BECS

  • Working Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.

  • Demonstrate reliability and strong work ethic.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.

  • Ability to interact with individuals and customers in a helpful, courteous, and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
