Summary:

Responsible for department’s records and office procedures. Maintains stock, and performs the Pathology Department’s transcriptions, files, and billing information. Provides exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

Patients and families are served in providing quality and efficient pathology services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Ensures that contacts with physicians, and other healthcare team members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school or equivalent; vocational/specialized training in medical terminology; typing and computer operations.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Minimum of one-year medical transcription experience preferred.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

N/A

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Able to read and understand medical terminology; computer skills; effective communication and writing/composition skills; secretarial training; mathematical skills; ability to handle multiple tasks; ability to work without supervision; medical office billing experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to temperature changes; exposure to bloodborne pathogens; exposure to electrical hazards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

Standing, sitting, walking, twisting upper body, reaching, pushing, lifting, finger and hand dexterity.
