Description
Shape the future of energy policy at the highest levels of government. Join a team driving industry-leading carbon-free energy procurement and the future of data center power supply — engaging directly with federal policymakers, regulators, and grid operators to build a sustainable future for customers and the planet.
In this Arlington, Virginia-based role, you'll represent Amazon Web Services before federal policymakers and regulators on energy and infrastructure policy. You'll develop and execute advocacy strategies focused on federal energy regulatory policy before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), wholesale electricity markets, and Congressional and Administration energy priorities. Your expertise will directly influence how we navigate the federal energy regulatory landscape — from shaping FERC proceedings and crafting policy submissions to advising business partners on emerging opportunities and risks.
Key job responsibilities
-
Develop and execute advocacy strategies supporting energy policy priorities, with a primary focus on FERC, wholesale energy market policy, and federal policymaker engagement
-
Monitor, analyze, and influence FERC proceedings related to wholesale electricity markets, transmission planning and cost allocation, interconnection reform, resource adequacy, capacity market design, and market rules affecting large electricity customers
-
Engage FERC Commissioners and staff on energy regulatory matters, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify policy opportunities and risks
-
Support policy submissions before FERC — including formal comments, responses to requests for information, and interventions — while developing advocacy materials such as policy position papers, talking points, regulatory filings, and briefing materials
-
Support Congressional and Administration outreach on energy market, grid reliability, and infrastructure policy, and provide expert advice to business partners on the federal energy regulatory landscape
A day in the life
No two days look the same in this role. You might start your morning reviewing the latest FERC proceedings or tracking stakeholder developments across wholesale electric markets, then shift to drafting regulatory filings or preparing briefing materials. Afternoons could bring direct engagement with FERC Commissioners, coordination with external energy stakeholders, or strategy sessions with business partners navigating the regulatory landscape. You'll balance detailed policy analysis with high-level advocacy, working both independently and collaboratively
About the team

Our mission is building a sustainable business for customers and the planet through engagement with policymakers, grid operators, and stakeholders. You'll join a team of policy professionals who engage at the highest levels of government and industry, working with internal and external partners to drive meaningful outcomes on energy, infrastructure, and sustainability policy.
