RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY:

  • Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around the department/hospital; picks up biohazard/hospital trash and soiled linen; performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain Queen's North Hawaii Community Hospital (QNHCH) in an orderly and sanitary condition.

  • Performs duties in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Seeing. Hearing. Speaking. Finger dexterity

B. MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:

  • Infrequent: N/A

  • Occasional: N/A

  • Frequent: Lift floor to waist between 0-5 lbs. Lift waist to shoulder between 36-50 lbs. Lift waist to overhead between 11-20 lbs. Carry between 0-5 lbs. Push and Pull between 6-10 lbs.

  • Constant: N/A

C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:

  • Infrequent: N/A

  • Occasional: Sit. Kneel. Crawl. Climb: Stairs/Ladder. Reach: above head.

  • Frequent: Stand. Walk. Stoop/Bend. Twist. Squat. Reach: shoulder level. Gripping.

  • Constant: N/A

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

  • Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions.

  • May have some exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, communicable diseases, and body fluids.

  • Work involves performing duties in a small, confined space, ability to negotiates stairs, ramps, and walking uneven ground, and performing tasks sometimes in wet/slippery and hazardous conditions.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education desirable.

B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

  • No certification and/or licensure requirement.

C. EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in housekeeping, environmental services, or heavy-duty cleaning required.

  • Experience to demonstrate knowledge and ability in using floor maintenance equipment, including scrubbers, strippers, burnishers, and waxing machines preferred.
