Full job description

Preschool Classroom Teacher: Head Start

Head Start (https://ofoinc.org/find-program/home-based-and-preschool-programs) is seeking a creative, organized individual to join our teaching team in meeting the physical, cognitive, and social/emotional needs of toddlers enrolled in the Head Start center-based program. As a classroom teacher you will:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement daily lesson plans, classroom activities, and outreach events

  • Guide children as they learn new skills including feeding, toileting, and self-care

  • Foster a welcoming and safe learning environment that promotes safe exploration for children and encourages parents to be active participants in their child’s education

  • Assist in supervision of classroom teaching staff, volunteers, and support management in ensuring compliance with day care licensing and Head Start Performance Standards.

This position has school breaks and summers off.

This position has a PENDING HIRE.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field; one year of experience in an early childhood program; NYS Teacher Certification (for UPK program teachers only); valid, unrestricted New York State driver’s license and reliable transportation

Expected Skills:

Technical and service skills required by duties; client service orientation; accountability for results; teamwork; adaptability; reliability

Working Conditions:

Typical pre-school environment and equipment; local travel; occasional work in client residences; possible exposure to childhood diseases
