Job Description :

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job is responsible for all clinical aspects of medical physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Audits and reviews patient medical charts. 30%

  • Performs quality assurance/control evaluations on radiation producing machines. 20%

  • Assists with special clinical research and development projects as assigned. 10%

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards. 10%

  • Advises and provides guidance to dosimetry and therapy staff and provides consultation services to attending physicians. 10%

  • Assists with the delivery of patient care for special procedures. 10%

  • Supervises and provides training to departmental staff in the application of physics. 10%

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Master's Degree in Physics or related field from a CAMPEP-accredited program

  • 2 years of experience in Clinical experience as a medical physicist

Preferred

  • 3 or more publications in medical physics

SKILLS:

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work independently in a challenging environment and take appropriate action.

Additional Employment Requirements:

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

  • One of the following:

  • Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification - American Board of Radiology (ABR)

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics Certification - American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP)

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM)

  • Radiation Oncology Physics Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM)

  • Magnetic Resonance Safety Certification – American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS)
