CNC Machine Operator- All Shifts Job Locations US-CA-Marina ID 2026-4731 Category Composites Manufacturing Type Regular Full-Time Company Overview Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.
Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate individual to join our manufacturing team. This individual will participate in several aspects of our composite part CNC trimming operation. Collaborating with CNC programmers & engineers, you will be contributing to the entire process of CNC operation. Hands-on experience and a “get it done" attitude are very important. This position is rewarding, as the team members will promptly see their work integrated into the production process due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation.
Shift Schedules below:
1 st shift - Monday – Thursday: 7AM- 5:30PM 2 nd shift- Monday - Thursday: 5:30PM - 4:00AM 3 rd shift -Friday - Sunday: 6AM - 6:30PM
Responsibilities Set up and operate 5 axis CNC Routers to trim composite aircraft parts. Provide feedback upstream on setup, machining strategy, order of operations, tool selection , speed/feed parameters, etc. Provide feedback on how to maintain and improve part quality Assist team with developing best practices for the machining process focused on increased efficiency and productivity Organize and manage multiple responsibilities with a high degree of efficiency Establish and continuously improve a well organized and safe environment for all workspaces Do a variety of supporting tasks that are needed to get the job done Required 6+ months of machining experience or relevant coursework Basic exposure to cutting tools for mills: flat, ball, & multi-fluted, end mills, drills. 6+ months in a shop environment, preferably wood, plastic, & or metal machining Experience with hand tools, ie . Drills, reamers, tap/die, files, precision pins, etc HS Diploma or GED Equivalent Experience working in fast-paced, time sensitive environments Demonstrated abilities following standardized work instructions, technical requirements, and executing standard processes. Able to use computers at an intermediate level Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday. Lifting of 50 lbs. or less aided or unaided throughout the day. Must wear PPE when required . Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials and able to become certified to wear a respirator. Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods. Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
Desired 1+ year of manufacturing experience Experience with vacuum holding trim fixtures Familiarity with composites (fiber glass or carbon fiber) Experience with large format, "gantry" style 5-axis CNC machines Familiarity with CNC machine controllers Familiarity with g-code Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment Experience in a high-volume production environment that relies on a well-defined process to achieve maximum efficiency. Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S environments.
The target base pay for this position is $23-$37/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
