Full Time, Day Shift (80 hours biweekly)

Hours: Monday - Friday, Day shift hours

General Summary

Oversees the activities of the hospital's central supply personnel regarding stocking and furnishing of sterile and nonsterile supplies and equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.

  • Establishes and oversees methods for preparing, handling and storing sterile equipment and materials.

  • Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling and issuing of professional equipment.

  • Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.

  • Develops and recommends department/entity operating budget and ensures that department/entity operates within budget.

  • Creates policies and procedures for inventory control and issuance of supplies and equipments.

  • Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).

  • Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operation, and which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.

  • Establishes and maintains department/entity safety, environmental and/or infection control standards.

  • Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).

  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.

  • Recommends sufficient space and other resources required by the department/service line/entity.

  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

  • Maintains inventory records and submits requisitions to ensure that adequate supply levels are kept on hand.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

  • Associates Degree Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 2 years Relevant experience Required and

  • 3 years Supervisory experience Required

Licenses:

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician Upon Hire Preferred
