Class A CDL OTR Driver | Flatbed | Long Haul | Nationwide

Summary

ND Energy Services is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver to safely transport oversized and general freight throughout regional and nationwide routes. Drivers operate tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and other commercial vehicles, ensuring freight is delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.

This position is ideal for professional drivers with experience in long-haul trucking, flatbed hauling, load securement, and electronic logging devices (ELDs).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class A commercial tractor-trailer safely over long-distance regional and nationwide routes.

  • Transport flatbed and other commercial loads while following all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.

  • Safely secure cargo using chains, straps, binders, tarps, and other approved load securement equipment.

  • Inspect and maintain load securement equipment before each trip.

  • Complete required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers.

  • Maintain accurate records using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in accordance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.

  • Report delays, breakdowns, accidents, cargo issues, and maintenance concerns to dispatch immediately.

  • Maintain professional communication with dispatch, customers, and management.

  • Ensure freight is delivered safely and on schedule.

  • Comply with all company policies, DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and customer site rules.

  • Immediately report all accidents, incidents, injuries, and safety concerns.

  • Safely operate equipment during day, night, weekend, and adverse weather conditions.

  • Assist with additional transportation or operational duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card)

  • Ability to meet all FMCSA and DOT qualification requirements.

  • Clean driving record with no recent major moving violations, license suspensions, or DUI convictions within the previous 3–5 years.

  • Ability to pass:

  • DOT pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

  • DOT random drug and alcohol testing

  • Background check

  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly.

  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous OTR driving experience

  • Flatbed hauling experience

  • Oversized load experience

  • Heavy haul experience

  • Winch truck experience preferred

  • Experience with load permits and route planning

  • Experience operating electronic logging devices (ELDs)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA transportation regulations

  • Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) requirements

  • Knowledge of cargo securement regulations

  • Safe operation of tractor-trailers and commercial vehicles

  • Ability to safely secure oversized and heavy loads

  • Strong attention to safety and detail

  • Mechanical awareness and ability to identify equipment issues

Work Environment

This position requires extensive overnight travel throughout the United States.

Drivers should expect:

  • Long-haul routes

  • Overnight travel

  • Weekend driving as needed

  • Night driving

  • Extreme seasonal weather conditions

  • Extended periods of sitting and driving

  • Frequent climbing, bending, lifting, and load securement activities

Schedule

  • Full-Time

  • OTR (Over-the-Road)

  • Extended hours during busy periods

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Previous commercial driving experience preferred

  • Flatbed, heavy haul, or winch truck experience is a plus
