Full job description

THIS IS A FULLY QUALIFIED LINE MECHANIC OPENING - location - Pittsfield, MA

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent, pass

the CAST test, possess a valid driver's license, and obtain/maintain a Commercial Driver's License

(CDL). Individuals must be able to perform work assignments at the Line Mechanic level including

transmission work, work emergency, and planned overtime when the need exists; acquire a basic

knowledge of the Company Safety Manual; have the mechanical ability to use hand/power tools, and

equipment pertinent to line construction and maintenance; and have the ability to climb and work on

poles, ladders, and other elevated structures.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position will require working both indoors and outdoors, and at times under adverse weather conditions.

Selected candidate must meet the physical requirements as required by medical placement

examination(s); may be required to work a four, ten-hour day work schedule; will be designated a shift

worker with Saturday as a work day; and must live within 30 minutes of the reporting location.

This is a Union position and qualified Local 455 WMECO employees will be given first consideration.

Individuals must be able to perform work assignments at the Line Mechanic level including transmission

work, work emergency, and planned overtime when the need exists; acquire a basic knowledge of the

Company Safety Manual; have the mechanical ability to use hand/power tools, and equipment pertinent

to line construction and maintenance; and have the ability to climb and work on poles, ladders, and other

elevated structures.

The salary range for this position starts at Step $59.78 and progresses in accordance with the union contract. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
