The Group Lead for the Quality Dept. will provide technical leadership, training, and guidance to department team members as needed.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

  • Must successfully complete Level 1 – 4 assessments and recertify knowledge on an annual basis.

  • Tour the work area: Ensure department operations are running on schedule. Determine cause of machines being down and help coordinate appropriate follow-up. Advise team members as needed. Coordinate with maintenance team members to prioritize repairs. Advise team members during machine troubleshooting. Perform department audits. Encourage team work and employee engagement.

  • Troubleshoot equipment/material/process issues : Communicate with and gather feedback from team members. Follow accepted guidelines and maintain proper settings. Analyze equipment for wear and assist in determining necessary replacement parts. Fill out work orders. Follow up to ensure effectiveness of any repairs, etc.

  • Coordinate machine assignments: Using the production schedule, assign team members to appropriate duties / machines.

  • Assist with paperwork: As needed, assist in collecting team member production data and enter the information into the computer system to generate required reports. Complete reports and passdowns.

  • Take part in shift transition meetings: Arrive 15 minutes before shift begins to meet and communicate with the Group Leaders from the previous shift in order to discuss relevant issues. Inform incoming shift of any issues that have occurred when meeting with them during the last 15 minutes of the shift.

  • Be a Safety Leader: Serve as an example by following all safety policies. Report and respond to unsafe conditions and team member actions. Continually coach team members on safe work practices. Use Safety Bucks (and other means) to recognize and reward safe behavior.

  • Assist shift manager during team member evaluations: Observe team member performance to assist in team member evaluations.

  • Assist with scheduling team member overtime: As needed, ask for volunteers to work overtime. If needed, assist shift manager in scheduling/communicating mandatory overtime.

  • Assist in communicating schedule changes: Receive schedule changes from Production and assist shift manager in communicating/executing changes.

  • Backup Line Inspector: Fill in as Line Inspector as needed

  • Update spec files: As new prints supersede existing print numbers, update file by including new spec sheet with old spec sheet. Create new files for new prints as needed.

  • Print Labels: Make labels as needed. Enter part number into computer, load blank labels and produce new labels.

  • Assist with training new team members, and monitoring training progress to provide support as needed.

  • Complete laser checks for rim diameter and rim thickness.

  • Complete daily audits.

  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to completing special testing and paper testing.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Work requires the ability to move around the plant, stand for long periods, and the ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Outlook) is preferred. Must monitor and respond to email while on shift, as well as maintain and create data within the company database. The ability to work with close tolerances, precise measurements, and the ability to read schedules and scales is needed. Previous operator experience and experience in production is extremely helpful.

WORK DEVICES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Coffee machines; computer; lab equipment; and miscellaneous hand tools.

SUPERVISOR REQUIREMENTS: Supervision received from shift manager.

TIME OF OPERATION: 12 hour shifts, working alternately (36) and (48) hour weeks with four (15) minute breaks and one (25) minute lunch.
