Full job description
Boiler Operator
Wage: $38-$42/hour (Includes 8 hours of built-in overtime)
Shift: Rotating – 7 days of 12-hour day shifts, followed by 7 days off, then 7 days of 12-hour night shifts, followed by 7 days off
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Boiler Operator to join our team. This role is essential to the safe and efficient operation of key equipment in our facility, including air compressors, turbines, generators, motors, and steam boilers. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Minnesota 2nd or 1st Class A Boiler Operator License and bring strong attention to detail and safety.
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Minnesota 2nd or 1st Class A Boiler Operator License
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately
Proficiency in writing routine reports and documenting activities in logs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in logistics, operations, boiler systems, or turbine-generator operations
Background in biomass power plant operations
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain air compressors, turbines, generators, motors, and steam boilers
Monitor equipment by reading meters, gauges, and automated recording devices at set intervals
Record data including equipment temperature, fuel consumption, pressure, voltage load, and generator performance
Adjust manual or automatic controls to maintain proper operating conditions
Conduct visual inspections to identify malfunctions or maintenance needs
Monitor renewable fuel inventories and deliveries
Verify and optimize fuel mixtures based on moisture content and other factors
Perform water titration tests and add chemical treatments to prevent scale buildup and maintain boiler efficiency
Maintain accurate logs of operational activities and maintenance tasks performed during each shift
Communicate effectively with supervisors and incoming shift personnel regarding system status and any issues
Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws
Perform other duties as assigned
