School Paraprofessional / School Aide

Location: Monroe, MI

We are currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated School Paraprofessionals (School Aides) to support students and teachers in the Monroe, Michigan area. This rewarding opportunity allows you to make a direct impact on children's academic, behavioral, and social development while working in a supportive school environment.

Position Summary

The School Aide (Paraprofessional) works under the direction of classroom teachers and school staff to provide instructional support, classroom assistance, behavior management, and student supervision. This role may include working with individual students, small groups, or classrooms that support students with special education needs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with classroom instruction and daily educational activities

  • Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support

  • Reinforce lessons and assist students with assignments and learning activities

  • Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development

  • Implement IEP accommodations and modifications under the teacher's direction

  • Help maintain a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment

  • Monitor and document student behavior, participation, and progress

  • Assist students with disabilities, learning differences, and behavioral needs

  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school settings

  • Prepare classroom materials and assist with organization of instructional resources

  • Support positive behavior interventions and classroom management strategies

  • Assist students with mobility, personal care, or basic needs when required

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, therapists, and administrators

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to work effectively with children in a school setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff

  • Dependable, professional, and student-focused approach

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or college coursework in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

  • Previous experience as a School Aide, Paraprofessional, Teacher Assistant, Instructional Aide, Classroom Assistant, Childcare Provider, Behavioral Technician, or Youth Counselor

  • Experience supporting students with special needs, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, or behavioral challenges

  • Knowledge of IEPs, student accommodations, classroom management, or behavior intervention strategies

  • Michigan Paraprofessional Certification or district-required credentials (preferred but not always required)
