Middle School Paraprofessional

Location: Ypsilanti, MI area

Pay: $22 per hour

Schedule: Approximately 35 hours per week

Contract: 36-week school-year assignment

Start date: August 17, 2026

Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a compassionate, dependable Middle School Paraprofessional to support students with academic, behavioral, developmental and social-emotional needs. This position provides one-to-one and small-group support in a structured school setting while partnering with teachers and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and behavioral support to middle school students

• Assist with classroom activities, assignments, routines and transitions

• Reinforce positive behaviors and classroom expectations

• Implement student support strategies and interventions as directed

• Encourage independence, engagement and appropriate social skills

• Help maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment

• Collaborate with teachers and school personnel

• Observe and document student progress as assigned

Qualifications

• Associate degree or prior school-based experience required

• Experience supporting children or adolescents preferred

• Background working with academic, behavioral, developmental or special-education needs strongly preferred

• Ability to follow individualized support plans and accept direction from school staff

• Strong patience, reliability and communication skills

• Commitment to student success and consistent attendance

• Approximately 35 hours per week

• 36-week school-year contract

• Starting pay of $22/hour
