Full job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of a complex, multi-entity real estate organization. This role will handle day-to-day accounting and will work closely with the senior accountant and the Assistant Controller to ensure accurate, timely financial records. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build broad real estate and construction accounting experience across multiple asset classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close tasks for assigned entities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

  • Maintain accurate general ledger records across assigned hotel, commercial real estate, residential, or construction entities.

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring proper coding and approval workflows.

  • Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations across the entity structure.

  • Support preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for assigned properties.

  • Assist with job cost tracking and draw requests for construction/development projects, as assigned.

  • Support lease accounting and CAM reconciliations for commercial and residential properties, as applicable.

  • Help gather documentation and support for internal and external audit requests.

  • Maintain organized, audit-ready supporting documentation for all assigned accounting entries.

  • Identify and escalate discrepancies or unusual account activity to senior accounting staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience; real estate, hospitality, or construction accounting experience a plus but not required.

  • Basic understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

  • Exposure to multi-entity accounting environments preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting/property management software (e.g., AppFolio, Sage Intacct, M3) a plus.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a dynamic, diversified real estate platform.
