Full job description

Pay Rate: $21-$25 per hour

Schedule: Mon-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm

The Customs Brokerage Compliance Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the compliant, timely, and accurate movement of multimodal bonded freight within our terminal network. They support customs brokerage activities for ground, air, ocean, and rail shipments, helping customers navigate complex regulatory requirements while maintaining operational excellence. They work closely with internal teams, carriers, customs officials, and clients to ensure all documentation is properly managed and that shipments meet customs requirements efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Process Transportation Entries (in-bonds) per internal handling SOPs.

  • Review and verify required import/export documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

  • Communicate with customers, carriers, customs agencies, and internal teams to resolve shipment issues and maintain end‑to‑end visibility.

  • Track and monitor shipments to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery.

  • Ability to understand and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of customs regulations, trade laws, and applicable government agency requirements with training.

  • Accurately update internal systems with shipment, billing, and compliance information.

  • Investigate and troubleshoot customs delays or holds; escalate as appropriate.

  • Support audit processes by maintaining organized, compliant documentation and records.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities that strengthen compliance and operational efficiency.

  • Assist with customer inquiries related to brokerage, compliance, and shipment status.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional logistics teams to ensure seamless freight movement and handoffs.

  • Uphold service-level standards, accuracy metrics, and performance expectations.

  • All other duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required

  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in logistics, trucking, customs brokerage or a related field preferred but not required.

  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work accurately under time constraints in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

  • Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality in handling and protecting sensitive information.

  • Technical: Proficient with common office technologies, including Windows PCs, Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and web conferencing (Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.).

  • Environment: Comfort commuting to/from and working in a 100% on‑site setting (listed in this posting).
