Ed Herrington, Inc is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Service Technician to join our team. This position works Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Position Summary

The Assistant Service Technician works independently or alongside the Lead Service Technician to provide timely and professional service for both warranty and non-warranty products. This role collaborates closely with Sales and Customer Service teams to diagnose issues, complete repairs, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and evaluate customer product concerns to determine the most effective repair solution.

  • Document findings and submit inspection reports within 48 hours of the site visit.

  • Communicate recurring product issues and potential product improvement opportunities.

  • Perform product installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance on windows, doors, and related components.

  • Install prefabricated parts and hardware, including weather stripping, trim, glass, locks, and handles.

  • Protect customers’ homes and property by using boot covers, tarps, drop cloths, and other protective materials as needed.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, leaving all job sites free of debris upon completion.

  • Clearly communicate warranty policies, procedures, and repair recommendations to customers.

  • Review upcoming schedules in advance and proactively address any potential conflicts.

  • Notify customers and the Customer Service Coordinator immediately of any schedule changes.

  • Conduct quality-control inspections on incoming materials before jobs are scheduled.

  • Assist with product and service training for members of the construction community.

  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, tools, and inventory in a clean, professional condition.

  • Manage expenses responsibly and submit all receipts and documentation by the end of each billing cycle.

  • Complete all required training assignments.

  • Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and a positive attitude in all aspects of the job.

  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and performance expectations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

  • The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.

  • General mechanical aptitude and carpentry skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Education & Experience

  • Licensed builder/contractor experience is a plus.

  • One to two years of experience in the millwork, construction, or building materials industry preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Andersen DSN Certification, obtained either prior to employment or through company-sponsored training after hire.
