GENERAL SUMMARY

Under general supervision, oversees the daily functioning of an outpatient clinic to support efficient operations and continuity of patient care. Provides clinical and administrative support while coordinating Medical Assistant staffing, schedules, competencies, orientation, and daily workflows. Works closely with providers and leadership to ensure appropriate staffing and effective clinic operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates daily Medical Assistant staffing schedules based on provider needs, patient volume, and clinic operations.

  • Develops and maintains staff schedules and enters schedules into Dimensions.

  • Works closely with providers to ensure appropriate staffing and flexibility to meet changing clinic needs.

  • Audits workflows, schedules, and staff performance to support efficient operations.

  • Coordinates and tracks staff competencies and ensures required training is completed.

  • Assists with orientation and onboarding of new Medical Assistant staff.

  • Provides clinical support and performs a wide variety of Medical Assistant duties related to ambulatory patient care.

  • Assists with maintaining medical and office supplies and ensures adequate inventory.

  • Supports continuity of care and consistent clinical workflows.

  • Identifies operational issues and communicates concerns or recommendations to the Manager.

  • Assists with maintaining compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Medical Assistant program, or graduate of a formal Medical Assistant program with a minimum of five years of continuous Medical Assistant experience with verifiable clinical experience.

  • Completion of a clinical externship.

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Medical Assistant.

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care.

  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills.

  • Successful completion of the Henry Ford Medical Group pharmacology class and test.

  • Primary care experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

  • Current BLS-C certification.

  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant is required through one of the following:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT).

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA).

  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Certification/registration must be maintained throughout employment. Failure to maintain required certification/registration may result in termination of employment.

SCHEDULE

  • Flexible schedule based on provider and clinic needs.

  • One late shift per week:11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • Tuesday–Thursday:8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.or8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., based on operational needs.

  • Fridays may be7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

  • Works thesecond Saturday of each month, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
