Position: Civil Project Engineer

Location: Tinley Park, IL

Farnsworth Group is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer in one of the posting locations below. In this role, you will be focused on the planning, design, and management of various civil engineering projects including water/wastewater/stormwater and transportation projects for local and government agencies. Posting Locations: Tinley Park, IL; or St. Louis, MO What You'll Do:

  • Plan, design, complete and manage a variety of municipal and some private owner driven civil engineering projects from inception to completion.

  • Prepare and develop construction, design documents and plans.

  • Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants.

  • Occasional project, city staff and board meetings.

  • Communicate planning objectives for clients current and future projects.

  • Prepare project proposals. Assist with business development efforts and development of projects.

  • Interaction with IDOT, IEPA, County, MWRD, and understanding of project submittals.

  • Team leader and mentoring younger engineers.

  • Manage, support, and build relationships with clients and agencies.

  • Conduct project field observation and condition assessments.

What You'll Need:

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering.

  • 8 – 15 years of related civil engineering experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or actively seeking licensure.

  • Certified Floodplain Manager a plus.

  • Federal, State, local regulatory authorities, IDOT experience.

  • Experience working with municipal and private clients.

  • IDOT – MFT project experience a plus.

  • Sanitary sewer, water line and storm water management design experience a plus.

  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoPak, SS4, MicroStation or OpenRoads experience.

  • Team experience with multiple ongoing projects.

  • Contract development skills.

  • Construction engineering and observation knowledge
