TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR**
Sewer District II
Washington County Sewer District II is accepting applications for
Senior Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator* *. This position involves responsibility on an assigned shift for the efficient operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant employing the activated sludge process. This position differs from a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in that the position directly assists the Chief Operator in plant operations and assumes responsibility for plant operations in the absence of the Chief Operator. Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator or a plant administrator with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work. Supervision is exercised over Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and Attendants. Does related work as required .
Currently this is a Civil Service non-competitive position through the HELP Program.** - No Exam Required
**The Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program temporarily removes the civil service exam requirement for specific titles across State and Local agencies. To be eligible for jobs in the HELP program, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the position and other conditions of employment. More information may be provided if you indicate interest in the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT : Must have a Grade 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation at the time of appointment.
RATE OF PAY : $34.04/hour (2026 rate) plus excellent benefits
