Full job description

Cupertino, CA / Optical Engineering / Full-Time

Mojo Vision is pioneering a highly flexible, wafers-in, wafers-out micro-LED platform to unlock AI applications in multiple market segments. Built over the past decade by our world-class engineers, our system-level approach combines advanced 300mm silicon architecture with GaN-on-Silicon emitters, proprietary quantum dots, photodetectors, micro-lens arrays, and packaging to solve conventional trade-offs in size, brightness, bandwidth density, and power. Our scalable, manufacturing-ready approach enables breakthrough products such as next-generation optical interconnects and AI glasses.

At Mojo, our team includes talented professionals with expertise in hardware, software, optics, photonics, electronics, chemistry, and applied physics. We are based in Cupertino, California and are backed by some of the world’s leading technology investors.

Role Overview:

Mojo Vision is seeking a Test Engineering Lead to drive the characterization and validation of optical and opto-electronic devices. This is a hands-on role that combines test development and execution with measurement project management. In addition to in-house testing, the successful candidate will define the requirements for manufacturing tests and work with external partners to develop volume-capable test equipment deployed with external fab partners.

The ideal candidate will have broad optical and electrical test expertise, and should be comfortable moving between system requirements definition, on-tool debug, making measurements and interpreting results in a fast-moving environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Scale laboratory optical measurement systems and processes to handle increased throughput as development moves from prototyping to pilot and volume manufacturing.

  • Drive in-house measurement of components during validation and reliability testing.

  • Work with internal engineering teams to define manufacturing test requirements for optical and optoelectronic devices.

  • Partner with external test equipment vendors to specify, develop, and deliver test tools that meet performance and throughput requirements. Manage the development process to meet ambitious timelines and deploy equipment at internal and external partner facilities.

  • Coordinate internal measurement projects to measure pilot samples to qualify new products and fabrication processes while meeting tight deadlines.

  • Document test methods, qualification plans, and results to support internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Interpret and analyze test data to identify trends, root causes, and corrective actions.

  • Drive test process improvements through automation, standardization, and practical engineering rigor. Required Skills:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in measurement engineering, test development, or volume production test.

  • Experience working with external suppliers and manufacturing partners on test equipment definition and deployment.

  • Demonstrated project management capability in multi-organizational environment.

  • A focus on deliverables and execution.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; able to translate data into clear engineering decisions.

  • Experience validating measurement/test performance for accuracy, repeatability, and robustness.

  • Proficiency with test automation and scripting tools (for example Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Skills:

  • Background in optics

  • Experience transferring test methods from R&D/prototype phase into high-volume manufacturing.

  • Familiarity with wafer-level and device-level test flows for optoelectronic products.

  • Working knowledge of statistical process control. Salary Range: $187,000-$194,000-$273,000

Level: Senior Staff Engineer
