Job Description

The Electrical Technician performs maintenance and repair services in multiple crafts. This position may operate utilities equipment which supplies electricity, steam, heat, refrigeration, air conditioning, compressed air or ventilation. The main purpose of this role to support the Operations to ensure the equipment is operating at desired capacity and producing quality product.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plant wide; safely troubleshoot complex equipment and building electrical problems accurately diagnosing and repairing failures.

  • Perform both unscheduled work as well as preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment to help achieve a goal of zero downtime and one hundred percent efficiency.

  • Continuously work with SAP system to develop and maintain accurate parts inventory levels.

  • Properly document all repair discrepancies, order replacement parts and complete outstanding work orders.

  • Correct GMP discrepancies.

  • Make recommendations that identify and eliminate problems within the work areas which help the company further the Continuous Improvement process.

  • Proficient in maintenance management systems- SAP.

  • Coordinate manpower for electrical maintenance and construction/changeover projects as directed by Maintenance supervision.

  • Coordinate plant and maintenance activity with contractors, plant personnel and others as needed or when directed by Maintenance Supervision.

  • Verify and spot check completed work orders as directed by Maintenance supervision.

  • Assist other maintenance personnel in computer access of electronic maintenance information.

  • Assist in other maintenance areas as directed or needed.

  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues.

  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.

  • The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required.

  • Other duties will include providing communication between work activities and supervisors of other departments throughout the plant.

  • Must follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all Corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements along with other duties as assigned.

  • Interact with contractors, plant personnel and maintenance

  • Assist in other maintenance areas as directed or needed.

  • Other duties may be assigned as required

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years formal mechanical education, certification or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment,

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and engineering prints.

  • Strong background in 120/208, 240, 480 voltage, single and three phase electrical repair and maintenance including motor controls.

  • PLC experience relating to identifying problems and recommending changes as well as making limited adjustments to photo eyes and prox switches.

  • Experience in industrial wiring and troubleshooting with NEC code compliance knowledge.

  • Strong knowledge of DC circuits as well as 4 to 20 milliamp control circuits.

  • Extensive knowledge of common test equipment related to the trade. ex. Volt Meter, Ohm Meter, and Amp Meter.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years Manufacturing / Industrial maintenance experience

  • Technical degree or certification

  • Food, Beverage or Pharmaceutical experience

  • The ability to multi-task

  • Good math skills

  • Basic computer skill
