Provides emergency patient care on an Advanced Life Support (ALS) level to those in need to decrease the loss of life and ease pain and suffering to the people in their time of crisis. Responds to emergency calls and renders appropriate care to patients with 100% compliance and accuracy as directed, needed, or necessary.

As a Paramedic you will:

Respond to emergency calls and render appropriate care to patients with 100% compliance and accuracy as directed, needed, or necessary.

  • Obtain and monitor vital signs for detrimental trends.

  • Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

  • Initiate airway care and oxygen therapy via the most appropriate delivery device.

  • Perform appropriate control of external hemorrhage and apply bandaging.

  • Stabilize and immobilize a suspected fracture.

  • Attend to an emergency childbirth situation.

  • Perform an emergency rescue when indicated.

  • Respond to a call promptly, without hesitation and in compliance with the PA Motor Vehicle Code.

  • Initiate intravenous therapy in a peripheral vein and obtain a blood sample for analysis.

  • Provide pulmonary ventilation by oral or nasal endotracheal intubation.

  • Prepare and administer an approved medication via IV, IM, SL, SQ, or ETT.

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac activity via a monitor.

  • Perform emergency cardioversion/defibrillation.

  • Perform external transthoracic pacing.

  • Perform an emergency cricothyrotomy or needle decompression; perform another skill as directed by Medical Command.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.Valid driver's license in good standing.

  • Current PA EMT-paramedic certification.

  • Current CPR (BCLS) training.

  • Current ACLS certification

  • Current PALS certification

  • Excellent physical and mental health. Must possess the manual dexterity to perform job duties and render patient care.

  • Graduate of a PA approved EMT Training Program

  • Graduate of a PA approved Paramedic Training Program.

  • Basic firefighting (optional), EVOC and Haz-mat awareness.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with family, the public, receiving facilities and Medical Command Staff.

  • One year experience as a paramedic preferred.
