Full job description
Loess Hills Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscience Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our GROWING team in Malvern, IA.
Pay:
$25-$30 per hour working 7am-4pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
•Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
•Performs inspections, diagnosis and repair of engine and powertrain components, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
•Effectively and efficiently repair equipment. Some of the heavy equipment currently on site: Compactors, Dozers, Excavators, Motor grader, Water truck and Articulated Dump Trucks.
•Ability to operate compactors, bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor grader experience preferred , but not required.
•Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
•Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
•Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
•Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
- Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair equipment on the face of the landfill. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.
•The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Valid drivers license.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate service and technical information.
•Preferred 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified (both diesel and yellow iron heavy equipment maintenance and repair, experience).
•Must own personal tools.
