Job Description
Responsible for safeguarding product safety and quality while meeting Company and regulatory standards and has oversight responsibility for a continuous quality improvement program that includes quality control and quality assurance. This person is responsible for ensuring that the production and distribution of products meets or exceeds all quality standards. This person also has responsibility for communicating quality results and the transfer of quality and QA knowledge to the workforce. Opportunities for internal career advancement.
Responsibilities
-Establish and implement quality control training and shop floor inspection methods and processes.
-Approve manufacturing prints and specifications from engineering before moving toward manufacturing processes.
-Manage inspection gauges and calibration process.
-Develop and manage continual improvement projects.
-Assist with manufacturing optimization efforts.
-Drive strategic quality initiatives.
-Identify areas for improvement, implement changes to methods and processes to improve quality.
-Maintain compliance with all IATF, ISO, regulatory, customer specific, and safety standards.
-Develop and maintain KPI's that drive improvement throughout the company
-Manage the corrective and preventive action process
-Suggest and debate alternative methods and procedures for solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.
-Conduct meetings with subordinates to establish, delineate, and review both the product assurance program and organizational policies.
-Coordinate functions and operations between departments and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining the organization's objectives.
-Review technical problems and procedures of departments and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
-Visit and confer with representatives of material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor quality standards including material certifications and other specifications as needed.
Qualifications/Competencies
-Strong understanding of GD&T and machine shop inspection techniques.
-Strong understanding of manufacturing prints/processes within a machine shop.
-Strong analytical and organization skills.
-Min of 5 years of quality managerial experience in a machine shop manufacturing environment.
