Full job description

Employment Status: Staff

Description of Key Responsibility:

  • Provide reference service at the Information Desk

  • Maintain building security, including responsibility for opening and/or closing the building, when required

  • Oversee student assistants during evening and weekend hours

  • Handle requests directed to library staff member on duty

  • Complete projects assigned by Outreach and Engagement Librarian

  • Perform other related duties as appropriately assigned

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the College’s mission, vision and values, and contribute to the advancement of the College’s Strategic Plan.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Education/Training:

Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association ( ALA )-accredited institution required. Candidates actively pursuing the degree may also be considered, provided they have completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Library Science.

Experience:

Reference service experience or training is required. Experience and background in an integrated online environment required. Experience and background in electronic information resources is required.

Position Summary:

This is a part-time (evening/weekend) non-exempt position providing reference services.

Employed August through May, two evenings and one weekend day (640 annual hours).
