How you make a difference

As aPsychologistin a correctional or detention facility, the role involvesprovidingclinical mental health services toinmate patients. The Psychologistis responsible forprovidingclinical supervision and guidance to any mental health professionalsassistingthem.The Psychologist must provide mental health services that are consistent with their professional training and experience while meeting the expectations of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and consultation services consistent with professional standards and institutional policies and procedures.

  • Conduct direct clinical services including diagnosis, treatment, psychological testing, and crisis intervention.

  • Ensure compliance with ethical and professional standards of care andparticipatein quality improvement activities.

  • Develop and implement goals andobjectivesfor clinical services andassistin staff recruitment andselection.

  • Notifyappropriate personnelof serious incidents andprovideprofessional education and staff development as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Doctorate in psychology and experience with mental health delivery systems

Experience

  • Significant professional experience in the mental field that indicates knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders and psychological evaluation techniques, including psychological assessment instruments

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed to practice psychology in the State of employment by the appropriate state licensing agency
