Full job description

Chief of Staff at Duet

About Duet Duet is proving that nurse-practitioner-led care isn't just more accessible, it's better. We help NPs build and scale independent practices in communities too often overlooked by the health system: rural towns, immigrant populations, LGBTQ+ patients, and more. Backed by AI-driven tools that give independent NPs the backing of a much bigger system, our network of 100+ practices covering 400,000 annual visits has driven a 30% increase in preventative visits and a 35% drop in hospitalizations, the clearest sign yet that localized NP-led care means better outcomes.

We're a well-funded, early-stage company led by seasoned entrepreneurs and nurse practitioners, and backed by investors including Lerer Hippeau and Kairos.

Why Duet, Why Now Independent primary care is disappearing, swallowed by hospital systems and private equity roll-ups, often pulling out of the communities that need it most. But 31 states now support autonomous NP practice, and the results back up what we've long believed. We built the first value-based care contracts for NPs with major payors, taking on real financial risk for outcomes. In our anchor market in New Hampshire, our network outperformed the state on total cost of care by 19%, proof that a solo NP in an underserved area can outperform a system ten times their size and get rewarded for it.

Role Overview

We're hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO and leadership team. We’re looking for a high-agency, scrappy operator who wants to own meaningful work from day one and hack solutions in a very fast-moving startup.

You'll spend your time on four areas: driving key external relationships forward, building repeatable content and processes using data and AI, helping the team stay organized and accountable, and picking up special projects that don’t have a clear home.

What You’ll Do

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Track and advance key external relationships, including payors, prospects, and channel partners, making sure follow-ups happen and conversations don't stall

  • Represent Duet directly in calls, emails, and meetings to move things forward without always needing the CEO in the room

  • Own the follow-through on partnership conversations: next steps, open questions, and the ongoing relationship-building that keeps deals progressing

Content, Data, and Communications

  • Build repeatable materials for different audiences — a payor deck reads differently than a partner proposal or a team memo, and you'll know the difference

  • Pull data from our CRM, databases, and internal analytics stack to answer questions and support key decisions

  • Use AI tools to automate repetitive reporting tasks, clean up data outputs, and accelerate the production of analysis and summaries

  • Support the CEO on company updates, customer communications, and external presentations

Operations and Rhythm

  • Own the weekly leadership team meeting: agenda, facilitation, and follow-through on action items

  • Help drive our OKR process each quarter — setting, tracking, and keeping the team accountable

  • Maintain our internal planning calendar: QBRs, offsites, all-hands

Special Projects

  • Lead time-sensitive projects that fall outside any single team's scope

  • Research new opportunities, competitive dynamics, or strategic questions and come back with a clear point of view

  • Support recruiting, team culture initiatives, and other priorities as we continue to grow

What we’re looking for

  • 3–5 years of experience in a high-performance environment — top tier consulting, banking, or an early stage startup (Seed through Series B)

  • Exceptional relationship builder, knowing how to context switch and develop trust

  • Organized and reliable — you track what you commit to and close loops without being asked

  • AI-native in your workflow; you actively use tools like Claude or ChatGPT every day

  • Low ego, high ownership; you're comfortable with unglamorous work

  • Comfortable working with financial data and excel modeling without needing to rely on AI

  • Healthtech experience is a plus, not a requirement

This role is in-office in NYC.

Salary range: $140,000-170,000 per year + equity
