Position Summary:Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, performs a variety of maintenance, safety, and construction-related activities at agency properties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluates and oversees the execution and timely completion of needed repairs at all agency properties.

Ensures the safety and appearance of all facilities by making regular visits and coordinating service.

Performs minor construction installations, repairs & general maintenance, including but not limited to, painting, basic carpentry, light plumbing and electrical work, appliance & cabinet installation, fleet vehicle oversight, property safety, agency event preparatory assistance, delivery/ relocation/disposal of agency materials

Responsible for ensuring functioning: light bulbs in fixtures, exit signs, emergency alarms and lights. Ensuring that doors and window locks are operational, fire extinguishers and alarm systems are present and working. yard/lawn work, snow removal,

Perform outside building and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to, yard/lawn work, property safety, mowing lawns and weeding, parking lot/sidewalk upkeep, and snow/ice removal (shoveling and the use of a snowblower)

Ensure maintenance areas including workshops, offices and garages are clean, safe, and inventoried at all times.

Operates manual and electric power tools, as needed, in a safe and responsible manner.

Provides physical labor during office or equipment moves, relocations and/or set-up.

Serves as the back-up Custodian and provides housekeeping/ janitorial services among all agency facilities, which includes the use of commercial vacuum cleaners, electric or battery powered, hand tools, polishing/buffing machines, brooms, mops, pails, dusters, sponges,

Reports to supervisor on a regular basis for supervision and project updates.

Provides courier service among all agency facilities, if necessary.

Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to ascend and descend ladders & walk up and down stairs in multiple-story buildings.
-
Ability to operate a variety of machinery, including but not limited to, snowblower and lawnmower.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.
-
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; on frequent basis
-
Ability to operate heavy equipment (including, but not limited to floor buffer, vacuums, carpet cleaner)
Minimum Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
One year experience of hands-on experience in a construction or maintenance-related field including some: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC
-
Must have a clean, valid NYS Driver License with reliable transportation to travel between sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years or more years’ experience in a construction or maintenance-related field preferred.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities after successful completion of the 90 day probationary period.
