Full job description

Under policy direction from the Pharmacy Supervisor and Hospital Manager with support of and input from the Medical Directors, the RX Attendant performs a wide range of prescription related activities within the Hospital’s pharmacy area. The RX Attendant provides accurate and timely prescription refills in conjunction with excellent client service, along with managing all aspects of the pharmacy prescriptions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Veterinary pharmacy knowledge ideal

  • Experience in veterinary medicine ideal

  • Customer Service

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Goal and detail oriented

  • Background in managing client communications.

  • Ability to plan, organize and effectively present ideas and concepts.

  • Ability to take information obtained from clients, staff and other sources and utilize that information in order to fulfill pharmacy orders.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once, and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma.

Physical Requirements:

  • Dependable attendance is required.

  • Any allergies to animals must be controllable through medication.

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.

  • This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day.

  • Visual acuity sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people and understand written directions.

  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand, give information in person and over the telephone.

Pay Range is $17.00-$18.00 per hour depending on experience
