Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in business litigation matters such as contract disputes, commercial disputes, partnership litigation, and other related areas.

  • Provide legal advice and develop case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.

  • Draft, review, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

  • Manage litigation files from inception to resolution, including trial preparations if necessary.

  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies.

  • Negotiate settlements, mediate disputes, and advocate for clients in court or alternative dispute resolution forums.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including paralegals and legal assistants, for case support and management.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Active member of the Maine State Bar, in good standing.

  • 3+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on business/commercial litigation.

  • Proven track record of managing complex litigation matters and achieving favorable outcomes.

  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal civil litigation procedures.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate legal arguments effectively.

  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage time-sensitive deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mediation, arbitration, or other forms of alternative dispute resolution is a plus.

  • Comfortable with legal technology tools, including eDiscovery platforms and case management software.
