Position Summary:

The Planning Clerk provides administrative and operational support to the Planning department by maintaining production planning data, coordinating communication across functional teams, and ensuring accurate system transactions. This position plays a key role in supporting production scheduling, inventory accuracy, and material planning activities to help ensure efficient manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and updating production schedules to support manufacturing operations.

  • Monitor production order status and communicate schedule changes to appropriate departments.

  • Support inventory accuracy through routine system data validation, inventory transactions, and record maintenance.

  • Coordinate communication between Planning, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and Warehouse teams regarding production priorities and material availability.

  • Prepare, compile, and distribute daily production reports, planning metrics, and operational dashboards.

  • Process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure planning records, bills of material, and related documentation are updated accurately.

  • Assist with material availability reviews and identify potential shortages or constraints that may impact production schedules.

  • Maintain planning files, production documentation, and departmental records in accordance with company procedures.

  • Support cycle count activities, inventory reconciliation, and inventory accuracy initiatives.

  • Assist with production scheduling activities and provide administrative support to the Planning department.

  • Enter and maintain data within the ERP/MRP system while ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning processes, inventory management, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve planning and scheduling issues.

  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and planning data.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.

  • One to three years of administrative, planning, scheduling, inventory control, or manufacturing support experience preferred.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to learn and utilize ERP/MRP systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Basic understanding of production planning, inventory control, and manufacturing processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
