CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records.

  • Assists pharmacists in filling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.

  • Receives and stocks incoming medical supplies and drugs.

  • Assists with compounding (didactic and/or basic hands-on).

  • Participates in assigned training program and continuing education activities to attain competency in different technician duty areas.

  • Volunteers for extra assignments and/or cross training in other department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.

  • May volunteer to participate in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee.

  • Acts as an informal resource for other technicians with less experience.

  • Provides support in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.

  • Serves as a mentor and role model.

  • Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
