Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team of engineers, technologists, and military veterans. The position is located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Connections and disconnections of electrical power for US Naval combat systems

  • Recommend efficient and effective procedures in connecting and disconnecting power

  • Provide scheduling of work scope advice and planning future installations of power requirements for Naval systems and additional support equipment

This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum education and years of related/relevant work experience required: Five years of demonstrated experience in the trade of an electrician. Demonstrated experience in the installation and maintenance of industrial type of electrical distribution systems.

Security Clearance Requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Highly desired, but not required:

Eight years of demonstrated experience in the trade of master electrician and licensed to perform electrician functions in any U.S. state

Demonstrated experience in the installation and maintenance of industrial type of electrical distribution systems Knowledge and experience of 400 hertz systems and facility modifications and the effects with power distribution

Pay Information

This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
