Family Service Association is seeking a full time (35 hour weekly) Program Attorney to join the agency’s Guardianship program.

This position has a hybrid work schedule. The annualized starting salary range is 60-62K with standard hours of 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, though coverage hours may vary based on program needs.

The FSA Guardianship program provides corporate guardianship/conservatorship services to elders and individuals with disabilities across Eastern, Massachusetts.

In this role, the Program Attorney serves in leadership capacity providing oversight of the legal component of the program, including direct responsibility for review of cases and handling of legal matters concerning clients of the Guardianship Program. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all legal issues including, attendance at court hearings, meetings, real property issues, drafting documents, Roger’s Reviews, Rudow, etc.;

  • Coordinate legal and clinical issues Re: placement, end-of-life decisions, medical decisions, appointments as Guardian, etc.

  • Coordinate legal and financial issues Re: life insurance policies, banking, property management, appointments as Conservator, Trustee, etc.

  • Drafting correspondence, pleadings, and other documentation in connection with case work.

  • Supervising administrative staff in the legal component of the program.

  • Share responsibility for rotation of a 24-hour pager to ensure provision of program services, ensuring 7 days per week, 365 days per year coverage.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a licensed attorney in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a member in good standing with the Board of Bar Overseers.

  • Experience working in Elder Law/Guardianship.

Candidates must pass CORI and CPS (child protective services) background checks.

Salaries are determined by factors including; experience, education, certifications, and foreign language proficiency with clients.
