Full job description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Drives a school bus safely and professionally.

Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections.
-
Reports any mechanical defect to immediate superior.
-
Checks and fills vehicle with fuel.
-
Instructs or informs passengers about safety practices when entering and/or leaving bus.

Maintains orderly conduct of passengers while on bus.
-
May clean interior and exterior of assigned vehicle.
-
May be required to perform minor maintenance tasks on the vehicle.
-
May be required to administer first aid to passengers injured on bus.
-
May install and remove tire chains when necessary.

Complies with all traffic ordinances.

Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.

Participates in on-site training.

Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus.
May also be required to:

Dust chairs, tables, desks, and other furniture.

Wash windows, walls, woodwork, bathrooms, tubs, and bowls.

Gather and dispose of refuse.

Clean and polish furniture.
-
Sweep, mop, and wash floors, clean blackboards and erasers, and perform other cleaning duties.

Perform maintenance on automotive vehicle and/or buildings and grounds.
-
Perform simple clerical tasks such as filing, sorting and/or printing of various material.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students while transporting them.
Job Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Must have no points on driving record and able to pass physical including drug test.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have New York State CDL Class B with passenger and air brake endorsement. Must satisfy requirements for School Bus Driver as set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and New York State Department of Transportation.
