Design Your Future with Ackerman-Estvold
Ackerman-Estvold is continuing to grow, and with that growth comes opportunity. We are currently seeking a Project Designer to join our Architecture team in Minot, North Dakota-an individual who is ready to be part of a firm where design, collaboration, and long-term career development are intentionally connected. This is a role built for someone who wants more than production work; it is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while actively building a path toward licensure and professional advancement.
At Ackerman-Estvold, project designers are not siloed. From early planning conversations through construction, this role is embedded in the full lifecycle of a project. You will work alongside experienced architects, engineers, and consultants, contributing to real design decisions, developing technical documentation, and helping translate client goals into practical, compliant, and buildable solutions. The work spans commercial and public-sector projects, offering both variety and the ability to build well-rounded experience.
What sets Ackerman-Estvold apart is not just the work, but how the work gets done. The firm operates with a strong emphasis on accessibility, mentorship, and team integration. Leadership is actively involved, and emerging professionals are given exposure, responsibility, and support in equal measure. There is a clear expectation of accountability, but also a shared commitment to helping individuals grow into the next stage of their career. For those pursuing licensure, this environment provides the experience, resources, and encouragement needed to make consistent progress.
The firm also takes a practical approach to supporting its employees. In addition to a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, Ackerman-Estvold offers overtime compensation for exempt employees-an uncommon practice in the architecture and engineering industry. This reflects a broader philosophy: recognizing the effort people put into their work and ensuring it is valued appropriately. Benefits are structured to reduce barriers for employees and their families, including 100% employer-paid medical coverage for employees and child dependents, along with retirement contributions, paid time off, and ongoing investment in professional development.
Equally important is the culture. Ackerman-Estvold maintains a team-oriented environment where individuals are expected to contribute, but also supported in doing so. Collaboration across disciplines is standard, not situational, and employees are encouraged to engage, ask questions, and take ownership of their work. The result is a workplace that is both professionally focused and grounded in mutual respect.
For individuals looking to build a long-term career in architecture-particularly those who want hands-on experience, consistent mentorship, and a firm that aligns investment with opportunity-this role offers a clear next step.
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment screenings. These checks are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ackerman-Estvold is an Equal Opportunity Employer: All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, and local laws.
