Description

Tyler Houk with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead daily operations for a family-owned agricultural manufacturing business. This executive will connect long-term business goals with practical execution, strengthen accountability across teams, and create the structure needed for reliable performance. The role works closely with senior leadership to improve coordination, support growth, and ensure the organization delivers measurable results across its farming and operational activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct company operations across key functions, ensuring teams work toward shared goals and maintain strong execution standards.

  • Coach managers and department leaders, set clear performance expectations, and build an accountable, high-performing culture.

  • Evaluate organizational structure and talent placement to ensure responsibilities are aligned with business needs.

  • Oversee operating procedures, improve workflows, and confirm that essential processes are documented and consistently followed.

  • Monitor financial results, performance indicators, and operational scorecards to guide decisions and improve outcomes.

  • Lead annual planning, quarterly priority setting, forecasting, and budget oversight to keep the business focused on strategic objectives.

  • Partner with executive leadership to convert high-level plans into actionable initiatives and drive cross-functional follow-through.

  • Resolve operational challenges quickly, remove barriers that limit execution, and bring clarity to complex business issues.

  • Facilitate structured leadership meetings, track key priorities, and maintain organizational alignment with company values and long-term direction.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, with consideration given to candidates offering 10+ years of directly relevant leadership background.

  • At least 10 years of experience in operational leadership, executive management, or a comparable senior-level role.

  • Background in agriculture, manufacturing, or another labor-intensive industry is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead both strategic planning and hands-on operational execution in a smaller business environment.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and people leadership skills with the ability to influence across departments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Sound business judgment with experience using metrics, budgets, and performance data to support decision-making.
