Job Duties
Opal Foods is hiring a Farm Maintenance Technician for our Litchfield, MN farm. In this job you would maintain all equipment in the laying hen houses. Successful candidates must be able to work in a farm/live animal (dusty) environment. We take pride in maintaining compliance with all company policies and governmental regulations including safety, bio-security and animal welfare requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Keep equipment running and operating safely and efficiently by maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment such as electric motors, pneumatic systems, and conveyor systems.
Perform preventive and urgent maintenance on production machinery and equipment
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
Take a proactive approach to issue resolution including root cause analyses and error proofing controls related to down time
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment to perform duties
Detect and report faulty operations, defective material and any unusual situations to the proper supervisor
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Assist the Production Team with other projects and duties as needed
Physical Requirements of a Maintenance Technician:
Fast paced work environment
Lift fifty or more pounds on a regular basis
Bend, lift, pull, push, stoop, bend and climb
Work in a general farm environment around live animals
Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)
Mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Previous experience troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairing industrial processing equipment
Organized and detail oriented
Must work some weekends
Able and willing to work off schedule shifts and/or nights when necessary
