Overview

The Mammographic Technologist will utilize their knowledge of screening and diagnostic mammography and be able to perform stereotactic biopsies in addition to localizations. He/she must relate well to others and be in compliance with MQSA standards.

Job Details

Education: High School graduation or equivalent required. High school diploma or G.E.D. Graduate from a program approved by N.Y.S. Dept. of Health, with all associated clinical hours.

Licensure/Certification: N.Y. State DOH and certifications from The American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Maintains the recommended CME by the ARRT and MQSA (15 mammography specific CE credits every 3 years)

Must have two or more certifications from The American Registry of Radiologic Technology, one being R.T. (R) the second one in Mammography certification. IF not certified, eligible to sit for exam, a grace period may be granted.

All mammography technologists must have the following MQSA requirements:

  • Completed 40 hours initial training in mammography, to include breast anatomy, positioning, compression, quality assurance and control techniques and imaging of patients with implants.

  • 25 mammography examinations under the supervision of a MQSA qualified individual

  • 8 hours of Full field digital mammography, breast tomosynthesis, screen film and screen film mammography.

Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Maintain and perform required MQSA standards (100 mammograms per year). Knowledge of radiographic and mammographic equipment. Will be required to work with ionizing radiation producing equipment and computers.

Excellent verbal and listening skills required for communicating clearly and effectively with others. Ability to bend, stretch, reach, handle/finger delicate items required. Ability to carry files up to 5 lbs. Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential physical demands.

Experience: Previous experience preferred; will consider new graduates.

Salary Range

Starting from USD $52.50/Hr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
