Maintenance & Technology Manager
Compensation Range:$106,200 - $140,700, with a possible 10% End of Year Bonus.
Situation in Organization
Position reports directly to the Alsip Plant Manager with direct reports including up to three (3) Maintenance Technicians, one (1) I/E Technician, Production Engineer, Improvement Engineer, and Developing Engineer (when applicable). Has direct interaction with the site Leadership Team including Production, Logistics, Quality, and Maintenance.
Job Dimensions
Leads the plant Reliability and Maintenance process by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating improvement opportunities, and executing Mechanical Integrity plans, preventive, proactive, and reactive maintenance tasks. Assures plant-level compliance with PSM and other regulatory inspections and maintenance requirements.
The position leads the site technical and engineering team supporting new product development scale-ups, control system management, and process improvements. The position also has responsibilities for Arkema Integrated Management Systems (AIMS) program development.
Activities Maintenance (40%)

Professionally manage direct reports, including providing safety performance feedback.

Ensure ISO, PSM, and PM requirements are met by maintenance personnel.

Manage department spending within guidelines, including contractor costs.
-
Manage contractor programs to ensure work performed meets plant specifications and policies.

Prepare periodic reports on plant equipment reliability.
-
Conduct analysis to determine failure modes and root causes of equipment failures.
-
Establish and implement quality control procedures for stock and non-stock parts supplied by OEMs and other vendors.

Lead planning for major shutdowns.
Mechanical Integrity (15%)

Own the site's Mechanical Integrity program.

Work with internal and external resources to plan and execute equipment inspection activities.

Update and maintain the information matrix for site MI status.
Engineering & Technical (35%)
-
Lead technical team members to drive continuous improvements in capacity and quality.

Lead cybersecurity and control system management.
-
Lead technical teams on new product scale-ups and quality improvement trials.

Coordinate minor capital project assignments.

Serve as ISCC+ registration contact and facilitate certification.

Support process optimization and facility improvements.
-
Prepare capital project scopes and objectives.

Provide engineering support for plant processes, equipment, and facilities.

Support environmental management system requirements.

Support Process Safety Management initiatives and audits.
Safety, AIMS, Training & Other (10%)
-
Support Arkema's safety culture and safety programs.
-
Lead/manage applicable AIMS elements and risk management activities.

Manage maintenance department training and development.
-
Develop procedures, policies, and training materials related to PSM, MI, and MOC.
-
Support Loss Control policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, including SPs, SOPs, PWIs, and TMs, to ensure productivity, quality assurance, and cost effectiveness.

Review work areas for potential losses and report hazards to the direct supervisor.

Report Near Misses, Incidents, and Accidents to the direct supervisor. Identify and communicate potential gains or opportunities for improvement to the management system.
Accountabilities
The Maintenance & Technology Manager leads the maintenance team to ensure effective equipment reliability and operational performance. This role ensures plant-level improvements align with the Plant Specific Technology Plan, helping close performance gaps and increase Asset Capability (AC).
The Maintenance & Technology Manager provides support for plant-level improvement projects and may fulfill roles within the global project execution work process. Success in this position requires strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to identify, analyze, and implement effective solutions. The role also requires leveraging expertise through cross-functional teams, support groups, and Technology Centers to enhance problem-solving and drive sustainable results.
Qualifications & Experience Required

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.

5+ years of experience in latex production, manufacturing plant/process engineering, project engineering, or a combination of these environments preferred.

Maintenance experience preferred.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Experience with fired boilers or plant utilities preferred.

Demonstrated ability to plan effectively, make data-driven decisions, objectively prioritize work, collaborate across functions, and deliver results.

Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
