Under supervision, the Cardiovascular (CV) Technician operates equipment to measure and record heart action by monitoring and graphically tracing electrical activity occurring during the heartbeat.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Obtains information for the electrocardiograph records, which include patient identification, history, and medication use.

  2. Escorts patient to the treatment room or wheels equipment to the patient’s bedside.

  3. Explains test procedures and gives instructions to patients.

  4. Attaches electrodes from specified body areas to leads from the electrocardiograph machine.

  5. Takes heart tracings machine. Recognizes emergencies and notifies physician if necessary.

  6. Identifies abnormal heart rhythms on tracings.

  7. Marks tracing paper to indicate electrode positions, pastes/labels tracings on mountings for physician’s interpretation.

  8. Cleans and maintains equipment, maintains supply levels and replaces defective stylus.

  9. Performs clerical tasks as needed.

  10. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.

  11. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.

  12. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

  13. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

  14. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations and competency assessment.

  15. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.

  16. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

  17. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

  18. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Requires high school diploma

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

Pay Range:

$21.00 - $28.26

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
