Medical Assistant Certified

Position Summary

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the Multi-Purpose Suite is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical support to physicians, nurses, and the office supervisor. This role requires a versatile individual who can efficiently manage patient intake, room preparation, point-of-care testing, and maintain patient safety. The CMA will also participate in cross-training to ensure seamless workflow and adaptability within the practice.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  1. Initial Intake – Greet and escort patients to the examination room, verify patient information including insurance details and medical history. Accurately record patient vital signs, including temperature, Blood pressure, pulse and respirations.

  2. Patient Room Preparation, Before and After Care – Prepare examination rooms with necessary medical supplies and equipment. Ensure rooms are clean, sanitized and organized as per infection control protocols. Assist Provider during examinations, procedures, providing necessary instruments and supplies. Clean and Disinfect room after patient visits. Dispose of Biohazardous waste as per guidelines. Provide post-visit instructions to patients as directed by the Provider.

  3. Patient Order – Process and manage patient orders for laboratory tests, imaging and other diagnostic procedures. Maintain accurate and up to date patient records. Ensure timely communication of patient orders and results to relevant healthcare Providers.

  4. Point of Care – Perform point of care testing according to established protocols. Document test results accurately in EHR. Maintain and calibrate point-of-care testing equipment as required.

  5. Patient Safety – Adhere to all patient safety protocols and procedures. Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy per HIPAA regulations. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate personnel. Assist in Emergency situations as directed by the Provider.

  6. Attend Staff Meetings, contribute to team discussions and provide feedback for process improvement.
