Job Summary

Join our team as a Material Handler Class I, where you will expertly operate motorized industrial equipment to efficiently load, unload, transport, and organize materials within our facility. This role is crucial to maintaining smooth warehouse operations and ensuring product availability for timely distribution.

Primary Duties

  • Operate motorized industrial equipment including sit-down fork trucks, stock pickers, and reach trucks safely and efficiently to manage warehouse inventory and material movement.

  • Conduct thorough daily inspections of all equipment before use to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with company standards.

  • Adhere strictly to established standard operating procedures to guarantee consistent and secure handling of materials throughout the facility.

  • Utilize hand-held and truck-mounted radio frequency (RF) scanners for accurate tracking, picking, and put-away of products, enhancing inventory accuracy and workflow.

  • Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.

  • Maintain detailed and precise logs or documentation related to equipment use, inventory movements, and any incidents or maintenance needs.

  • Receive and execute work orders and instructions efficiently to support various warehouse functions, ensuring timely completion of tasks.

  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks to keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.

  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify opportunities for process improvements and support department projects and meetings.

  • Participate in cross-training and rotation of job assignments to develop a versatile skill set and support operational flexibility.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to team success.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the motorized industrial equipment proficiency test and obtaining relevant licensing to operate machinery safely.

  • Ability to adapt to rotating job assignments and work schedules to meet the evolving needs of the warehouse operation.

  • Strong commitment to safety standards, accuracy, productivity targets, and maintaining a clean work environment.

  • Excellent ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions with careful attention to detail.

  • Capability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain focus during repetitive tasks.

  • Mathematical aptitude to perform basic calculations related to inventory counts, measurements, and load capacities.

  • Demonstrated reliability with consistent attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed to support operational demands.

  • Physical ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 45 pounds regularly, with stamina to perform duties involving reaching, carrying, and moving across different warehouse areas.

  • Effective communication skills including active listening and clear expression to coordinate safely with team members within a moderately noisy environment.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • One to three months of related experience and/or training in warehouse operations or material handling.

  • Or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience demonstrating capability to perform assigned duties safely and efficiently.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
