OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical, instrumentation and control systems associated with boilers, steam turbines and other power plant peripheral equipment.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

I/E Technician II must possess excellent knowledge (100%) in the following areas:

Power and electrical distribution:

  • High voltage 4.16KV and 13.8 KV switchgear operation and basic maintenance

  • 480 VAC motor control maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Interpreting motor control drawings

  • High and low voltage transformer maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Low and high voltage 3 phase motors troubleshooting and replacement

  • Installing rigid conduit up to 1” diameter for power distribution and motor control

  • 125VDC switchgear controls, battery system and inverter system

  • General knowledge of NEC

  • Turbine generation generic knowledge

Fields’ Instrumentation and Controls:

  • Pneumatic positioners and controllers.

  • Control valves and MOVs

  • DP transmitters

  • Thermocouples and RTD

  • Pneumatic switches

  • Proximity switches

  • Solenoid switches

  • Zero speed switches and tracking switches

  • Load cells

  • Electromechanical valves and electro-hydraulic control valves

  • Vibration sensors

  • Single loop controllers

  • Knowledge of Air conditioning and air handling systems

  • Familiarity with P&ID

PLC, DCS and CEMS

  • Ladder logic troubleshooting ability

  • Familiarity with termination drawings for troubleshooting

  • Understanding of power sourcing and field control power

  • CEMS and DAS maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Analytical Instrumentation

Test instrumentation

  • DVM

  • Megger

  • Signal Simulator i.e. Transmation

  • Hart Calibrator

  • Bench manometer measurements

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 10 years’ combination experience in the Electrical and instrumentation field

  • 1 year site specific NHCP experience

  • Good communication skills

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Must possess AA degree with emphasis as described below:

  • AC/DC circuit

  • General control theory

  • Basic Math
