Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities:
The Music Teacher will implement a well-planned instructional program designed to meet the educational and behavioral needs of the students and meet NYSED standards for curriculum and instruction in music education.

Implement a differentiated instructional program designed to meet the needs of students with and without disabilities.

Utilize a repertoire of all types of music genres that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.

Develop and refine music curriculum based on NYSED standards.
-
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports and grades as appropriate.
-
Provide and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
-
Follow Individualized Education Plans as appropriate for each student.

Implement and follow applicable treatment goals for each student.

Provide direct supervision of a Teacher Assistant in your classroom.

Participate in all required training and in-services within or outside of HGS and the Tilton School to meet HGS and NYSED guidelines for training and certification.

Attend all staff meetings

Implement an effective behavior management program within your classroom consistent with the school program based that demonstrates positive reinforcement.

Take part in QI training and demonstrate commitment and active participation in the agency’s ongoing quality Improvement Program.

Maintain all appropriate records and documentation to obtain and/or sustain appropriate NYSED Teacher Certification.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements:

Master's degree in education, special education, music or a related field OR
-
Bachelor's degree in education, special education, music or a related field. Teachers Certification required. Teacher experience preferred.
