Staff Attorney 15/16: General Litigation - Corrections Division

Our General Litigation Section offers the opportunity to do exactly that. While prior litigation experience is preferred, it is not required. We operate collaboratively, share expertise and take pride in delivering exceptional advocacy on behalf of the State of Michigan. Our attorneys have recently:

• Prevailed in multiple federal jury trials;
• Argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals, Michigan Supreme Court and the Sixth Circuit Court;
• Submitted briefs on significant issues before the United States Supreme Court and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The work of the General Litigation Section is dynamic and intellectually challenging. In this role, you will brief cutting-edge constitutional and statutory issues with substantial governance impacts, take and defend depositions, handle discovery and motion practice, and provide strategic counsel to the client agency on non-litigation matters. Education Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law. Experience Attorney-Staff P15 No specific type or amount is required. Attorney-Senior 16 Four years of post-bar admission legal experience.
