Duties & Responsibilities

Portfolio Leadership & Supervision

  • Oversee the implementation of all mental health, SEL, and leadership supports across every site in the assigned borough portfolio.

  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex student, family, or site-level concerns within the portfolio.

Mental Health & Referral Oversight

  • Oversee the external SEL and mental health referral process across the portfolio, ensuring students and families are connected to appropriate individual therapy, group therapy, counseling, and family resources.

  • Partner with certified clinicians and external providers, including The Home for Little Wanderers, to monitor referrals and support timely, confidential follow-through.

Assessment, Curriculum & Quality

  • Ensure SEL pre- and post-assessments are administered accurately and on schedule at every site in the portfolio, in partnership with the SEL Data Specialists.

  • Oversee faithful implementation of leadership and SEL curriculum and restorative justice practices across all assigned sites.

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Collaborate with program directors, teachers, school staff, and community partners to embed SEL and leadership practice into the afterschool day.

  • Participate in and, where appropriate, help facilitate year-round professional development, peer coaching, reflective practice, and group work.

Qualifications

  • MSW, BSSW, or a degree in School Counseling required.

  • Experience working in school-based or school-aligned settings is required.

  • Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally overseeing youth development staff.

  • Proven success supporting students with academic, social, and emotional challenges, including those with special needs and those from high poverty backgrounds.

  • Strong understanding of child development, behavior, and trauma-informed practice.

  • Knowledge of mental health referral pathways and the ability to coordinate services across providers.

  • Strong technology and data management skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and database systems.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a multi-site portfolio in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and continuous professional growth.
