The Maintenance Technician at Savage’s Corpus Christi Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on mobile heavy equipment, conveyors and pickups, at our Corpus Christi facility.

  • A conveyor maintenance technician inspects, repairs, and prevents breakdowns in industrial belt or roller systems. Duties include diagnosing mechanical or electrical faults, adjusting belt tension, aligning rollers, and replacing worn parts to keep manufacturing or logistics operations running safely.

  • Inspect: Check belts, rollers, bearings, and motors for wear.

  • Repair: Fix jams, splice torn belts, and swap bad parts.

  • Adjust: Align tracking and set correct belt tension.

  • Lubricate: Grease moving parts on a routine schedule.

  • Test: Run diagnostic checks and trial runs under load

  • Knowledge: Basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical principles.

  • Safety: Strict adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and OSHA rules.

  • Physical: Able to lift heavy items, climb, and stand for long shifts

  • Assist with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary

  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory

  • Learn and partner with the Operations Manager to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures

  • Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed

  • Support other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Operations Manager, even in areas outside typical heavy equipment/conveyor mechanic duties

Requirements to be successful:

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mobile heavy equipment, pickups, and conveyors.

  • Minor electrical repairs and troubleshooting required

  • An expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer-based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plus

  • Has an invested interest in operational safety

  • Be able to read, write, and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions

  • Welding experience a plus

  • Willingness to do a significant amount of preventative maintenance

  • Prepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Operations Manager

  • Environmental awareness

  • Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpful

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Effective interfacing with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team members

  • TWIC Required

  • Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policies

  • Ability to be on call at designated times, work weekends and night shift when required.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion

  • A strong record of continuous improvement, personal development and attention to detail

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a mobile equipment mechanic/diesel mechanic, conveyors and pickups, required

  • Certifications preferred but not required

Some physical requirements and working conditions:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs

  • Will be on your feet for extended period of time throughout the day

  • Navigating the facility will include, but is not limited to, exposure to harsh weather conditions, uneven ground, ladders, racks and other high places, ground that can be slick or uneven, and other industrial hazards

  • The work site is an industrial setting and will require someone who can work safely around this type of environment, as well as ensure compliance to strict OSHA and State regulations
