Job Description:

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Adult Education Program Assistant (Ellijay Learning Center) Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30pm to 8:00pm

Prior to hiring, candidates will undergo a pre-employment criminal background check, motor vehicle records review, and employer/professional reference verification. After initial screening, additional documentation may be requested.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position provides support for Adult Education programs.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Administrative:

  • Provides clerical support for program operations

  • Enters student information into GALIS

  • Reviews and corrects student data

  • Maintains filing, record-keeping systems, manuals and other materials

  • Maintains the confidentiality of records; releases information according to program guidelines

  • Prepares memoranda, letters, and other correspondences; distributes materials to appropriate parties

  • Proofreads and edits documents for accuracy and consistency

  • Maintains GED registration records; coordinates GED graduation exercises

  • Receives, sorts, screens and distributes incoming mail

  • Maintains program supply inventory; reorders as needed Customer Service:

  • Conducts pre-testing and registration sessions

  • Answers telephone, takes messages, make appointments and referrals

  • Provides information, greets and assists to campus visitors Instruction Related

  • Assists instructors with classroom presentations

  • Tutors and assists individual students in the learning environment

  • Performs other related duties

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

Knowledge of:

  • Office practices, procedures and equipment

  • Customer service standards Skills in:

  • Decision making and problem solving

  • Working with the public

  • Verbal and written communication

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for (1-2) years

SALARY/BENEFITS: $15/hr

This position is part time. There are no state of Georgia benefits.

TELEWORK: This position is ineligible for telework.
